The four-bar spike-tooth harrow with round-bar rolling basket is a finishing attachment offered for the 2330 Mulch Finisher and works best in lower residue conditions.

Seedbed preparation

As part of John Deere’s ProFinish™ Leveling System, this harrow configuration utilizes spike-tooth harrows and hydraulically adjustable rolling baskets to help prepare the seed zone and to promote excellent seed-to-soil contact. The spikes work to level the soil and provide a consistent terrain for the round-bar rolling baskets help pack the soil to preserve moisture, encourage uniform germination, and speed up emergence.

With its flexible-link design and independently mounted ranks, the spike-tooth harrow can move into the soil and through residue without plugging. The four bars of spikes help level the soil and provide a consistent terrain for improved firming, mixing, and clod-shattering by the round-bar rolling basket. This harrow works best in similar lower residue conditions like all spike harrows.

The hydraulically adjustable rolling basket helps distribute larger soil particles on the surface and finer soil particles in the seed zone to promote excellent seed-to-soil contact. Yields can benefit when there is good soil adherence at germination for moisture and nutrient uptake, promoting early seedling growth. Soil particle size distribution also helps to deal with spring rains.

Adjustability

The spike-tooth harrow angle can be adjusted from 23 to 51 degrees. The aggressive settings enable better leveling and more shattering in heavier soils while the shallower settings can be used in lighter soils, requiring minimum soil stirring and leveling.

With integrated TruSet™ Tillage technology, operators can adjust the rolling-basket down pressure from the cab while on the go. The tillage documentation feature gives producers the ability to capture and analyze their field cultivator pass for complete coverage of the crop production cycle. Added prescription functionality gives producers the capability to ensure their tillage operations are executed correctly, optimizing their investment in preparing for the next crop.
